THE PROBLEMIt’s easy to have fun in the sun on a full stomach, but did you know that approximately 1 in 8 children in Blue Earth County is food-insecure? Of those children, 17% are ineligible for federal nutrition programs (e.g. SNAP) leaving them and their families without access to additional resources. This makes our work of feeding all hungry students critical for our community!

"I deeply appreciate the help more than you can imagine! Thanks to your help, my child grew almost a full inch and gained several pounds during the summer."

THE SOLUTION
The Summer Pack Program is a free program that provides students in grades K-12 with additional nutrition in the summer months. FOCP delivers one box containing a month's worth of nutritious, well-balanced, youth-friendly weekend food items throughout the summer. Piloted in 2019, the Summer Pack Program serves hundreds of local students. Students are eligible if they attend one of the 30 schools currently served by FOCP and are in grades K-12 (incoming kindergarten students included).
In the summer of 2025, boxes will be distributed on June 12, July 10 & August 7. Check out our volunteer page if you'd like to deliver and consider donating to help us purchase this food! |
